Family Reimbursement

The purpose of the Family Reimbursement Program is to assist families with costs incurred above and beyond typical expenses due to their child’s developmental disability not covered by any other waiver or family support services. The family may apply several times during the year until a cap ($1,000 annually) is reached. Possible expenses which would be reimbursed include camp, at-home respite services (not covered by Medicaid), adaptive clothing, diapers (not covered by Medicaid), co-payments for medication or doctors’ visits (related to your child’s disability), recreation (i.e., swimming, horseback riding), and many other out-of-pocket expenses. Please note that this program does not cover LIPA, fuel oil, food or clothing. All requests must be accompanied by a completed application, proof of developmental disability diagnosis, eligibility for LIDDSO services and paid receipts.

The Family Reimbursement Program funds are reserved for individuals who reside at home with their families.
