DEPARTMENTAL POSITIONS

Human Resources Generalist (Bohemia) – Monday-Friday 8:30AM – 4:30PM = 35 hrs

Performs HR duties including: employee relations, benefits, leave entitlement, and payroll management and assisting in the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems. Administers payroll and benefit plans. Reconciles monthly billings from insurance providers and resolves discrepancies with carriers, the payroll provider, and the agency. Resolves employee grievances related to payroll and benefit plans and fosters effective relationships with employees on all levels and client representatives. Maintains HRIS and compiles reports from database. Administers, maintains, and monitors all Worker’s Compensation Case and Disability files. Completes site visits to meet with management and attends supervisory meetings when called upon to address Human Resource related topics.

The position requires a thorough knowledge of Human Resource practices. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is required.

Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources; or Associates degree plus three years experience; or ten years human resource experience.  

HR Recruiter (Bohemia) – Monday-Friday 8AM – 4PM = 35 hrs

Under the direct supervision of the Human Resource Director, an employee of this class provides a high quality agency initiation to all prospective candidates and new hires. Develops and maintains innovative recruitment strategies and practices, Visits all program locations and meets with management to develop program-specific recruiting plans, Builds professional relationships with college and university placement offices and with professional associations as a source to generate qualified applicants; attends job fairs, Manages the applicant tracking section of the HR formation system in order to develop an instant applicant pool; works with management on job description creation/maintenance for all agency positions, Generates advertisements for open positions internally and externally, conducts pre-employment reference checks, Delivers and captures all necessary new hire paperwork.

Bachelor’ degree in Human Resources or related field and five years recruiting experience is required, general computer skills required.

CHILDREN’S SERVICES

1:1 Teacher Aide - Bohemia, NY, M-F, 8:15 AM - 2:45 PM

Attends to the physical needs of the children; required to carry, transfer and position students as needed for feeding, toileting, diaper changing and positioning in adaptive equipment which entails bending; Graduate of an accredited high school GED

ADULT DAY SERVICES

Community Integration Specialist Bohemia, Lakeland, Knickerbocker | Lakeland (Ability to speak in Creole preferred)  M-F, 8AM - 3:30PM = 35 hrs.

Under the direct supervision of the Day Habilitation Supervisor, an employee of this class is responsible for assisting and training in the areas of communication, life skills, social behaviors, personal skills, health care, and promoting self reliance to the extent possible.

Speech/Language Therapist – M-F 8AM – 3:30PM = 35 hrs

Under the clinical supervision of the Speech/Language Pathologist and the overall supervision of the Facility Administrator, an employee in this class is responsible for the comprehensive diagnostic and management services of persons with functional and organic communication disorders.  Work includes evaluation procedures necessary to determine speech/language disorders as well as functional level with regard to receptive/expressive language.  Therapy is implemented in consultation with the Supervising Speech Pathologist who reviews work through written reports, conferences, and observation of techniques employed and results obtained.

Graduation from an accredited college with a Master's Degree in Speech Therapy and a License in Speech Therapy from the State of New York. Readiness to learn and utilize relevant agency computer applications.

Program Assistant – M-F 8AM – 4PM = 35 hrs

Performs general clerical and receptionist duties as required to fulfill mandates of our programs. Work involves confidential and varied tasks; Performs related work as needed. Must be Computer literate and detail oriented; Excellent typing, communication and phone skills.  Comprehensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, terminology and equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to type at least 40wpm; Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Travel between program sites may be necessary for meetings, trainings, etc.

High School diploma or equivalency required along with prior office experience; must possess Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. 

Behavior Intervention Specialist – Westhampton Beach, Full Time M-F 8AM – 3:30PM = 35 hrs

The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in a clinical or treatment field in Psychology, Social Work, School Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Special Education, Applied Psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions AND documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan OR must have a BCBA and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD OR must have a NYS license in Mental Health Counseling.

Experience preferred in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.

Supported Work Job Coach (Intensive) – Bohemia, M-F 8AM – 3:30PM = 35 hrs

Provides community based supported employment and job development services for adults with developmental disabilities. Under the direct supervision of the Program Administrator of Placement Services, an employee in this class is responsible for providing supported employment and job development services for adults with developmental disabilities to assist them in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment, or volunteer experiences.

High School Diploma or GED and 3 years job coach experience with individuals with disabilities in a community setting.  Complete an OPWDD approved vocational rehabilitation or supported employment training program.  Readiness to learn and utilize relevant agency computer applications.   Two years experience developing voluntary or employment opportunities in the community.  Knowledge of social security benefits as it relates to employment.

COMMUNITY RESIDENCES (IRA)

Behavior Intervention Specialist – Bohemia, Part Time = 21 hrs.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Psychologist and the IRA Administration, the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) is responsible for providing positive approaches, strategies, and supports to enrich the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities; Assist in developing appropriate person-centered behavioral supports to increase and maintain functional behaviors, and design interventions to prevent or limit challenging behaviors as well as to monitor the use of specific interventions that limit rights or have adverse potential adverse impacts.

Must have a Master’s Degree in a clinical or treatment field in Psychology, Social Work, School Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Special Education, Applied Psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development or Must have a BCBA and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD or Must have a NYS license in Mental Health Counseling. INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITY

House Manager - M-F 40 hrs. (Flexible Schedule/ includes some weekends and evenings/ On-call Responsibilities/ Not a live-in position)

Under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Program Director, an employee in this class manages the operation of an AHRC IRA; ensures that the health and well-being of the individuals is maintained, manages a household budget, supervision of relief staff and direct care staff, supervision of diets and nutritional needs of individuals, meal preparation, light housecleaning, record keeping, individual service plans, attending team meetings, family/community relations, ensures the scheduling of medical and dental appointments, coordination of leisure activities for the individuals, administration of medication in conformance with State regulations, trains and evaluates staff.

High School Diploma or GED and one year experience in working with the population; American Red Cross First Aid Training Certification and Fire Safety Training in an OPWDD approved course within the first three (3) months of employment.

Assistant House Manager Position

An employee in this class is responsible to assist the House Manager’s of the Westhampton ICF and Mount Sinai IRA over see each program. A flexible 32 hour work schedule is required which will include weekends and holidays. The Assistant House Manager will ensure that all needs of the individuals are met in the absence of the House Manager. Previous experience working in the field of intellectual disabilities is preferred.
