Funds

Tribute Funds -
Contributions of any size -- in memory of, or in honor of an individual --
can be made to the Tribute Fund. AHRC sends appropriate
acknowledgment on behalf of the donor to the bereaved or to the
honoree.
Give here.

Memorial door plates, which are displayed in the doorways of our day
program facilities, are also available. Call (631) 585-0100 for information.

Capital Construction Fund - Contributions to this fund aid in financing
new construction of residential facilities.

O'Neill Leisure Activities Fund - Helps subsidize various
chapter-sponsored leisure activities for program participants.

Family Appreciation Fund - Contributions to this fund help support
Suffolk AHRC programs, and help provide up-front dollars for capital
construction projects. Contributions are solicited through an annual
direct mail campaign conducted each September. Families have the
option of contributing an outright gift, or pledging a set amount to be paid
off in installments by August of the following year.

Planned Giving - Individuals donating to AHRC through bequests, life
insurance policies, securities, real estate, and/or trusts participate in
AHRC's Planned Giving Fund. For more information about this special
form of contribution, call AHRC's Office of Community Affairs at

$5,000 or more annually to any combination of Chapter funds are

insurance policies, securities, real estate and trusts (including the AHRC
Community Trust) are recognized as members of the AHRC Heritage

Ongoing and Annual Fundraising Events

Bingo - Bingo is, by far, the largest source of fund raising for Suffolk
AHRC -- and the one which is most dependent upon volunteers. The NYS
Commission of Waging and Racing, which licenses charity Bingo Games,
mandates that Bingo be operated by volunteers. Parents are strongly
urged to commit one night a month as a bingo volunteer. AHRC operates
games each Friday, and once a month on Saturday, at a Bingo Hall on
Route 110 in Melville.

Candlelight Ball - AHRC's annual dinner-dance attracts over 300
people: volunteers, members, and individuals from Long Island's
corporate and banking communities. Corporate sponsorship and the sale
of advertising in the Ball's commemorative journal account for much of
the money raised from this event. Family involvement is encouraged,
particularly in the sale of journal ads. Through an incentive plan, the
families of AHRC's program participants earn tickets to the ball by selling
journal advertising and tickets to the Ball.

Gift Shop - Located in the Bohemia and Annex facilities, these
volunteer- operated shops offer inexpensive gifts, sundries, and greeting
cards. The shops are convenient for staff and offer program participants
the opportunity to shop for appropriate merchandise. Volunteers are
needed as sales help.

Golf tournament - Held in June, this annual event is promoted to the
business community, although families are invited to participate both in
the tournament and/or the dinner.

Holiday Crafts Fair - A popular winter holiday event, the Holiday Crafts
Fair features arts and crafts, and ceramics created by AHRC program
participants, as well as handcrafted and home baked items donated by
AHRC family members. Holiday Fairs are held at most AHRC day
program sites, with the fair at Bohemia open to the public as well.

Raffles - Various raffles are offered throughout the year to supplement
ongoing and annual fundraising events.
